Comments:
1) This is a run of the mill British farce with lots of Britishsex. The Italians make sex look wholesome, the French make it erotic, theAmericans make it dirty but the Brits laugh about it. Lots of nude ladiesand I lost count of the bare boobs. But it’s all quite harmless and fun, done in that "No Sex Please We’re British" style. This movie won’t win critical raves or film festival honours. But I happenedto be alone all weekend and it was just the ticket Saturday night with abeer and a bag of chips (crisps?) after a hard day of laying woodenflooring. It’s silly and saucy in the best British tradition.

2) The only thing which distinguishes this final instalment of theAdventures film trilogy is that the budget has reached a new low andthere's a pall of palpable depression, brutality and despair hangingover the whole proceedings. In this episode, the incompetent and rathernasty little misogynist protagonist Sid South (whose first pick-up hereinforms us has got a small dick) owes rent, bills and debts to agangster bookie. The bookies are demanding payment with extrememenaces, so in between fixing people's plumbing (his unhappily pursuedtrade), Sid tries a variety of dodgy money-making schemes, none ofwhich do him any good.

What is fascinating is the sheer contempt that everyone shows everyoneelse in the film (with the exception of Sid's personality-less barmaidon-off girlfriend), and the dilapidated feel of Britain in the late 70s(the "winter of discontent" was just around the corner). With its pettygangsters roaming around throwing their weight about, and its centralcharacter desperately unable to better his financial position, Britainresembles one of those post-Communist Eastern block countries, a drearydog eat dog landscape in which everyone is mean-spirited, quick toanger, aggressive and anxious. The only thing that brings anyone anyrespite is the odd bout of loveless sex, performed with all the finesseof fumbling adolescents.

Adventures of a Plumber's Mate is billed as a comedy, but apart from acouple of very obvious comic moments provided by natural clowns likeStephen Lewis (as ever doing Blakey from On the Buses) and ClaireDavenport (as a violent masseuse), there's not a laugh to be had infrom the whole soul-destroying hour and a half of the film; it isn'teven paced like a comedy, more like a particularly bleak Play forToday. This is the product of a defeated nation, with the odd bout ofsad-sack snickering punctuating the sound of millions of days in thelife gone sour.

3) For once, a protagonist who doesn’t smoke! I swear, they love theircigarettes in Great Britain, and it seemed in every sex comedy, someone islighting up.

One of the movies from the British-made "Adventures" series, this one isactually a good one. A likeable Lothario plumber named Sid is havingtroublepaying the bookies and must get 1000 pounds paid to them or "else". Inbetween plumbing jobs, he works for a small-time crime boss who gives him"jobs" to do, and they all go wrong for him. As with all movies in thisseries, people go naked, but here, there aren’t any sex scenes for once, butthere are some funny scenes created from the situations the plumber getsinto.

Stephen Lewis, who played Inspector Blakey from "On The Buses", has asmallrole as Sid’s boss, the aptly named B.A. Crapper. Yes, this is a veryBritish film, with some people’s accents being very difficult to decipher, but it’s still worth seeing, although it’s probably unavailable in theU.S.If you live in a British Commonwealth country, you’ll findit.

From beautiful SpaceCam shots of theSierra Nevada to the dizzying heights of the Golden Gate Bridge, this filmwill put you on top of a tree without having to climb it, drop you 6,000feet to San Diego without getting out of your seat, and take your breathaway with beautiful cinematography. Get strapped in for a ride you won’tsoon forget.

2) If you've seen a lot of IMAX films you know that the best ones have:

a.) Plenty of aerial footage

b.) Educational value

c.) Lots of beautiful scenery, and

d.) People risking their lives doing foolish stunts mostly just toentertain US.

Adventures in Wild California has plenty of all four.

California is a beautiful state with many varied topographies and AIWCshowcases all of them. It's basically a forty-minute infomercial forCalifornia tourism, but that doesn't really matter because this movieis a cinematic thrill ride!

If you've never seen an IMAX film, go see this one and it will have youhooked on IMAX for life!

Finally, the jungles of the upper Amazon are visited, showcasing the deadly Jivaro headhunters and emphasizing the three very distinct areas of Peru.

  • Vitaphone production reel #1460A
Comments:
1) A Warner Bros. Short Subject.

Travel through the ancient Indian lands of Bolivia & Peru forsomehigh ADVENTURES IN SOUTH AMERICA.

This short film takes viewers on a Technicolor tour of theAndes, where we see some of the fiestas & festivals of the nativepeoples, as well as paying a visit to Lake Titicaca. Afterviewingthe Incan & Colonial architecture of La Paz, Cuzco & Lima wearegiven a glimpse of the savages living at the headwaters oftheAmazon River.

Often overlooked or neglected today, the one and two-reelshortsubjects were useful to the Studios as important traininggroundsfor new or burgeoning talents, both in front & behind thecamera. The dynamics for creating a successful short subject wascompletely different from that of a feature length film, somethingakin to writing a topnotch short story rather than a novel.Economical to produce in terms of both budget & scheduleandcapable of portraying a wide range of material, short subjectswere the perfect complement to the Studios’ feature films.

2) ADVENTURES IN SOUTH America is a cursory look at Peru of '46, showingthe contrast between the Old Peru and primitive farmers and thatchedhuts and the new modern cities like Lima.

It starts with a look at the old, including a mixture of old and newcostumes that can be seen in the market in La Paz. Colorful costumesare adorned during fiesta days and we see the Lake Chiticaca area wheresailing crafts and riverboats glide on the waters.

We take a look at Inca cities where walls and streets were built byprimitive building standards but still stand today. Peruvian farmersand their wives work in the fields. We see a swinging bridge made offiber (and expect to see Indiana Jones crossing at any moment), andstop for awhile at Lima, a colonial town founded by Pizarro in the1500s and updated with modern construction as the capital of Peru.

The documentary closes with a look along the Amazon where the savageheadhunter tribes are shown standing around in a group, and nearby arethe head trophies decorated and preserved in a fancy manner.

Colorful but rather dull in the manner of presentation.

Adventures in Homeschooling

Title: Adventures in Homeschooling

Actors: Dan Castellaneta | Mo Gaffney | Ruth Buzzi | Paul Dooley | Tony DeCarlo | Daniel Farber | Bianca Lanfield | Amir Talai | Brian Posehn | Steve Bannos | Frank Crim | Jim Giordano | Cecil Odom | Tracy Erickson | Griffin Dooley
Rating: 7.4 | 22 votes

Country: USA
Company: 5K Films
Genres: Short
Plot:
1) The story follows a year in the life of the Hemples, a family that takes home schooling to an extreme – and has for generations. When a vindictive Inspector from the Board of Education invades their paradise, promising to shut them down, the members of this eccentric and highly dysfunctional family somehow find a way to pull together and win the day.
Trivia:
  • Was initially supposed to shoot in 2001, but Paul Dooley was shooting _Insomnia (2002)_ so the start date had to be pushed back.
  • In the dinner scene, no two Hemples have the same meal on their plate. Due to a sudden shift in the shooting schedule, the planned meal was not available when the scene was to be shot. Thinking quickly, the production team made use of the leftovers from lunch. The catch? There wasn’t enough to go around. So, while one Hemple has garlic bread for dinner, another has green beans, a third has spaghetti, and so on.
  • In a cut scene, Gus surprises the kids of the house by treating them to a limo on prom night. They rush outside and clamber into the waiting car – which takes them 10 feet further down the driveway. The kids pile out of the limo and race into the Hemple garage – for their prom.
Comments:
1) Tony's version of Chip Hemple was like a human rendition of Garfield. The humor in the film was of an uncomfortable nature, taking cues fromDadaists and other Surrealists, particularly in the football scenewhere spectators line the backyard in "Fruit-of-the-Loom"-esquecostumes. The direction, editing, and delivery of dialogue also tookcues from Lynch and early John Waters, taking the interior life of atypical American family and turning it into an unpredictable jazzodyssey. I highly recommend this film to anyone who appreciates shortfilms that are both intelligent and cohesive, but not necessarily gliband commercial. This film had a vital element that today's so-called"quirky black comedies," such as "The Royal Tannenbaums" or "RunningWith Scissors" utterly lacked: heart.

Plot:
1) This documentary explores the emerging world of high-tech hide-and-seek called geocaching. Meet TRUROKR, family man; his rivals, the Ventura Kids, and lovable geek Aerospacecase. A humorous and poignant portrayal of four fascinating people and their feelings about competition, community, and the quest for the elusive Tupperware container.
Trivia:
  • Best Director, Trenton Film Festival (2006)
  • Best Documentary (Amateur), Real to Reel Film and Video Festival (2006)
Comments:
1) Even if you know nothing about geocaching, you'll find yourself drawninto their world by this film. Do you identify with the Ventura Kids'aggressive quest for numeric leadership at any cost, or do you admirethe purity of TRUROKR's relationship with the natural world? Or,alternatively, do you step aside from that dichotomy and find commonground with the lonely pursuit of Aerospacecase? Regardless, it's allthere – life in a camouflaged tupperware container.

For those who do know the world of geocaching, there's the pleasure ofthe inside references – the old debates over park-n-grabs and "powercaching," for instance. I've seen this movie twice with audiences ofgeocachers, and both times it provoked frequent laughter, applause, andtalking back to the screen. Nora Donaghy clearly *got* them, and wasable to capture their world succinctly. Brilliant.

Plot:
A scientist’s kids are sucked into a TV screen and wind up in the Stone Age with cavemen and dinosaurs.
Comments:
1) I remember watching this when I was about 3. I watched it almosteveryday. It was and still is a very good movie. I lost it when I movedbut if I can find it again I would definitely buy it. It is a reallygood movie for kids, it holds everything from comedy to scary (forlittle kids). This is a really great movie. As many times as I watchedAdventures in Dinosaur City, I had always thought that everybodywatched it. When I started asking around though, nobody I had asked hadevery watched it. It was almost like my brothers and I were the onlyones who knew what it was. Watch this movie! And I'll repeat, this is areally, really, really good movie.

2) Although, as the other comment (yes, there is only one) for this moviesays,it is horridly bad, I find it very entertaining. As one of the things Ihave accidentally taped from TV from letting the VCR record too long, Iwatch it now and then. Someone put some amount of effort into making this, why not enjoy the result?

3) I remember watching this movie when I was in the third grade. I woke upearly and was watching the Disney Channel, and the movie came on.Automatically, I was hooked onto it. I haven’t seen this movie in sucha long time, but at that time is was something that put a smile on myface. To say that is’ a silly, stupid movie that deserves no praise ispretty harsh. Yes it wasn’t the best movie ever made, and yeah, itdidn’t have the best actors in the world. But this is in no doubt theset up for those "sucked into games" fanfiction. This shows how thosekids would respond if they got sucked into their favorite cartoon, justlike how fanfiction authors write about how they would interact withthe characters, change the story lines and travel the world after beingpulled into their favorite cartoon, movie, or game. I think this movieput that fantasyworld of ours into motion, and for that it deserves alot more respect.

I can’t say much more at the moment. I’ll only conclude that it was afunny, sweet and cute movie, and I’d love to watch it again.

4) This movie isn’t about a sophisticated attempt to tunnel into the past

using a sample memory storage device to extrapolate possible scenarios.

No. This movie is about KIDS.

It’s a plausible daydream-fantasy for a child interested in dinosaurs

(Geller, Ross Jr. ?), cartoons (oh, small crowd there) and any kind of

technobabble (see StarTrek) – it teaches hardship in life and the value

of friendships, much as those popular (*sickly*) children shows. It

teaches the American Dream. Give your kids a chance with this one -

they’ll probably love it; just as i did when i was 7 or 8.

5) This is definitely a cult classic, a must see for people of all ages. Theadventures of the two kids shows them that television shows are not realandthat violence does hurt, not just yourself but those you care about. Afunny story with deep characters and a plot that reveals the characters’deep and complex psyches. A family movie that all should watch andenjoy

6) The first time i saw this movie I was 4 years old and ever since i sawit i loved it. I liked this movie because it is about 3 kids who gointo their favorite cartoon and i wish i could do the same thing. Topsis my favorite character he is really cool!! I wish I was Jamie she wasreally cool and helped her friends alot. Every time its on the disneychannel i watch it. THUNDER’N!!!!! Dinosaur city rules.

7) Honestly whats to be said about a film like, it was obviously not meantto be anything more than a campy little kid movie, buts its somewhatenjoyable.Okay my friend gave this to me to see how laughable it was, well it was, because it was extremely corny and somewhat bad attimes. It got very slow when it got into the film itself. But for thebeginning its very funny how cute and ridicules this is.But I gotta sayits really because of its low class aspects that can make this filmenjoyable.Overall kids will probably like this, and if you have a placein you for this kind of entertainment than you can find thisenjoyable. But as far as a critical mind one won't really findAdevntures In Dinosuar City to be a good film. 5.0 out of 10 stars

8) I've only ever seen this movie once when I was very young. But Ienjoyed it thoroughly and it has stuck with me for years. It is,unfortunately, exceedingly hard to find. Until I could remember enoughof the name to look it up on IMDb I thought I had dreamed it up -particularly because it's the type of story a child might think up ontheir own if they're interested in the subject. If you can find a copyof it it's definitely worth the time to watch it. Despite the horriblespecial effects (given the time period it was made in I think they'reexcusable) I think that kids of this day and age would definitely get akick out of it.

9) I first saw this movie when I was 4yrs old and I fell in love with it!Even now almost 10yrs later I still enjoy watching this. It's a perfectfamily movie filled with everything from comedy, romance,horror-(kids), and plenty of action! We still have this movie on tapeand I love to watch it with my brother and sister. They enjoy this asmuch as I do. Adventures in Dinosaur City is my #1 choice for a familymovie. If you haven't seen this movie you should defiantly watch it. Itis and always will be one of my favorite movies. The characters areawesome and the plot is different from any I've ever seen. This movieis unique and one that I defiantly give 2 thumbs up!

10) Hands down, the greatest movie to come out of the 1990s. From thespecial effects and puppetry to the acting and plot, Adventures inDinosaur City has something for everybody. Even the soundtrack isamazing and really sets the mood. As soon as you see the awesome intro, you will be HOOKED. I guess one could say its like the ShawshankRedemption, but with dinosaurs instead of a prison.

Oh wait, who am I kidding? This movie is terrible! – But Still! If youhave the chance to watch it, do not pass it up! It will have you on theground laughing (whether it be with the movie or at the movie). Thereare so many little errors you pick up on every time you watch it. I'veseen it about 7 times (trust me, thats A LOT for this movie) and I amstill seeing new things!

Comments:
1) I watched this Pilot for the Un-Made series when it originally aired and Iliked it then. Luckily I was smart enough to tape it so I watched itrecently and I have to say I still think it was pretty good, for being aspin-off of an unforgettable movie starring Elizabeth Shue.It would have been a good television series in my opinion.Would have been better if Elizabeth Shue reprised her role. But ohwell. If you like the movie, then you should like the TV ShowPilot.

2) Pilot pretty much goes like this: Chris comes over to babysit the twokids, goes to convenience store to visit semi heavyset friend, storegets robbed, Daryl is inside one of those vending machines/games withthe robot arms that's supposed to grab a stuffed animal…they escapethrough the sewers (can't remember exactly how) have to run up a littleramp and eventually make their way back home, safe and sound. Iremember watching this repeatedly when I was eight (I had taped itbecause it aired one night before Tracey Ullman) Reasons why I don'tthink this show would've worked:

1. Writers would've had to keep coming up with reasons for the parentsto be gone for an entire evening. 2. Writers would've had to keepthinking of "adventures" for Chris and the kids (and I assume Daryl aswell as Chris's best friend) to get into. 3. Can't exactly re-useanything but the living room set (unless a lot of action goes on in theconvenience store…or, I guess, the sewer?). 4. This seemed brilliantwhen I was a kid, probably would seem ridiculous if I watched it now.

Still…would've been interesting to see how it might've gone.

3) This unsold pilot based on the 1987 classic of the same name that Ithink if it was picked up for a whole season, it would’ve been a greatseries. The pilot has Chris Parker (Jennifer Gutherie) babysitting forBrad and Sara Anderson (Joey Lawrence and Courtney Peldon), and Brad’sannoying friend Daryl (Brian Austin Green). She wants to visit a friendwho works at a convenience store so she brings Brad Sara, and Darylalong with her. Unlucky for them, the store ends up getting robbed andthey end up being taken held as hostages. It was similair to the moviein many ways. As I said before it would have been a great series. Therewas definite potential. I have a feeling it would have been a hit hadit been a series. Apparently network execs didn’t think so.
